Your European Motorcycle Tour, Planned Around You: We’ve Already Asked the Right Questions

A great motorcycle adventure doesn’t begin when you start your engine. It begins with experience, careful planning and an understanding of what makes every mile worthwhile.

At OC&RR Motorcycle Tours, we believe your European motorcycle holiday should be about enjoying spectacular roads, discovering remarkable destinations and creating unforgettable memories. Not worrying about routes, accommodation, fuel stops or where you’ll be heading the following morning.

With over 30 years of combined experience riding and exploring Europe, Matthew and Andy understand that organising a successful motorcycle tour takes considerably more than entering a destination into a sat nav.

It takes local knowledge, thoughtful preparation and an appreciation of what motorcyclists really want from their holiday.

Whether you’re joining one of our guided European motorcycle tours or choosing the freedom of a self-guided adventure, we’ve already asked many of the important questions and put our experience into planning journeys you’ll remember long after returning home.

It Starts With Understanding the Rider

Every motorcyclist has their own idea of the perfect ride.

Some enjoy challenging mountain passes and endless hairpin bends. Others prefer sweeping countryside roads, picturesque villages and opportunities to stop for a coffee while admiring the scenery.

Neither approach is right or wrong. It’s simply what makes motorcycling such a personal experience.

When developing our tours, we consider the different riding preferences, daily distances and experiences that make a journey enjoyable.

We understand that travelling through the Swiss Alps requires a different approach from exploring the Black Forest or enjoying the beautiful countryside of northern Italy.

Our aim is to create thoughtfully balanced routes that combine rewarding riding with opportunities to appreciate the places you’re visiting.

After all, there’s little point travelling hundreds of miles through spectacular scenery if you’re constantly watching the clock.

Finding the Roads Worth Riding

Anyone can plan a motorcycle route using modern navigation technology. But finding the roads that make a journey genuinely memorable requires something more.

Experience.

Over the years, we’ve ridden countless miles across Europe, discovering breathtaking mountain passes, quiet rural roads and beautiful destinations that aren’t always found on the quickest route.

From the towering peaks of the Dolomites and magnificent Swiss Alps to the sweeping bends of Germany’s Black Forest and France’s Vosges Mountains, we know that the journey is often more rewarding than the destination.

We look at how roads connect, which sections offer the most enjoyable riding and where a short detour might reveal something special.

Sometimes it’s a stunning viewpoint. Sometimes it’s a lovely village that deserves an extended lunch stop.

And sometimes it’s simply a stretch of tarmac that leaves you smiling inside your helmet.

Those moments are what motorcycle touring is all about.

Taking Care of the Practical Details

Planning a European motorcycle tour involves plenty of considerations that aren’t immediately obvious.

Accommodation, border crossings, toll roads, daily riding distances, fuel availability and rest stops all need attention.

Then there are the differences between European countries, including road regulations, speed limits and the equipment riders may need to carry.

We consider these practical requirements when developing our itineraries, helping remove some of the uncertainty that can accompany travelling abroad.

Daily distances are particularly important.

Covering 150 miles through demanding mountain passes can be considerably more tiring than riding the same distance along open countryside roads.

A successful touring itinerary needs to consider the nature of the roads rather than simply the mileage.

We also recognise that motorcycle holidays shouldn’t feel like endurance events.

There should be time to stop, stretch your legs, enjoy lunch and occasionally take that photograph which simply doesn’t do the scenery justice.

Our approach is to balance enjoyable riding with realistic daily schedules.

Guided Motorcycle Tours: Sharing the Experience

There’s something special about exploring Europe alongside people who share your enthusiasm for motorcycling.

Our guided tours offer riders the opportunity to enjoy carefully planned routes while travelling with others who appreciate the freedom and excitement of being on two wheels.

For those experiencing their first European motorcycle tour, travelling with an organised group can provide additional reassurance.

But guided touring isn’t simply about following another motorcycle.

It’s about sharing experiences.

The conversations over breakfast, the laughter during coffee stops and the stories exchanged over dinner often become as memorable as the roads themselves.

We’ve always believed that the social side of motorcycle touring is an important part of the adventure.

Friendships can develop naturally, particularly when everyone has spent the day enjoying remarkable roads and beautiful scenery.

And there’s something wonderfully satisfying about arriving at your hotel, removing your helmet and seeing the same enormous grin on everyone else’s face.

Self-Guided Tours: Your Freedom, Our Planning

Of course, not everyone wants to travel as part of a group.

Many motorcyclists prefer riding independently, perhaps with a partner, a pillion passenger or a few close friends.

That’s why OC&RR Motorcycle Tours also offers self-guided European motorcycle adventures.

With our self-guided tours, you benefit from carefully researched routes and a planned itinerary without having to ride within an organised group.

You retain the freedom to enjoy your holiday at your own pace.

Fancy stopping for another coffee overlooking the mountains? Go ahead.

Want to spend longer exploring a beautiful Italian village? That’s entirely your choice.

Perhaps you’ve discovered a viewpoint that’s simply too good to leave behind.

Those spontaneous moments are part of the pleasure of travelling independently.

Our self-guided approach combines the convenience of professional tour planning with the flexibility and independence that motorcyclists value.

Your Tour, Your Dates

We understand that not everyone’s diary conveniently matches published tour dates.

Work commitments, family responsibilities and other plans can make arranging a motorcycle holiday more complicated than it should be.

For riders interested in our self-guided adventures, we welcome enquiries about travelling on alternative dates.

Tell us where you’d like to explore, when you’d prefer to travel and how many riders will be joining you.

We can discuss the available options and help arrange a tour around your preferred travel period, subject to availability and practical arrangements.

Whether you’re organising an adventure with friends, planning a special holiday with your partner or simply escaping everyday life for a few days, we want the experience to suit you.

The Little Things Make the Difference

Experience has taught us that a successful motorcycle tour isn’t necessarily defined by the number of miles travelled or famous destinations visited.

It’s often the smaller moments that stay with you.

An early morning departure beneath clear blue skies. A winding Alpine road stretching into the distance. A relaxed lunch in a village you hadn’t previously heard of.

Or perhaps that moment when you stop at a mountain viewpoint, look across the landscape and realise why you fell in love with motorcycling in the first place.

These experiences can’t always be scheduled, but thoughtful planning creates more opportunities to enjoy them.

And that’s precisely why we invest time in developing our tours.

We’ve Done the Planning. Now Enjoy the Adventure.

At OC&RR Motorcycle Tours, our philosophy is straightforward.

We use our experience to plan rewarding routes and practical arrangements, allowing you to concentrate on enjoying your European motorcycle adventure.

We’ve considered the roads, destinations, distances and details that help turn a good motorcycle holiday into a memorable one.

Of course, your preferences still matter. We’d love to hear about the destinations that excite you, the dates you’re considering and the sort of experience you’re hoping to enjoy.

Whether you’re joining us on a guided tour or choosing the independence of a self-guided journey, Matthew and Andy are here to help you explore the possibilities.

Because ultimately, motorcycle touring isn’t just about getting from one place to another.

It’s about everything wonderful that happens along the way.

You’ve got the motorcycle. We’ve got the experience and the routes. Now let’s plan your next adventure.
