Riding Pace Is Personal
One of the biggest lessons reinforced in 2025 was this: riding pace is deeply personal.
Every rider has their own rhythm. Experience, confidence, road conditions, weather and even how you feel on the day can all influence the pace that feels right. On a motorcycle tour, enjoying the ride should never mean feeling pressured to keep up with somebody else.
Our role is not to set a speed, but to create space. Space to ride smoothly. Space to breathe. Space to take in the road ahead and arrive at the end of the day feeling good.
That philosophy is built into every OCRR motorcycle tour in 2026.
A Motorcycle Tour Shouldn’t Feel Like a Race
When you’re riding some of the best motorcycle roads in Europe, speed isn’t what makes the experience memorable.
It’s finding your flow through a sweeping mountain road, enjoying a quiet stretch of countryside, stopping for coffee somewhere you would never have discovered on your own, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the view.
A good day’s riding is about much more than how quickly you get from one stop to the next.
That’s particularly important on a guided motorcycle tour, where riders naturally arrive with different levels of experience and different riding styles. Nobody should spend their day worrying that they are holding the group up or feeling that they need to ride beyond their comfort zone.
Finding Your Own Riding Rhythm
Some riders naturally enjoy a quicker pace. Others prefer to take their time, settle into the road and enjoy the scenery around them.
Neither approach is wrong.
The important thing is riding at a pace where you feel comfortable, alert and in control. European touring can bring everything from long open roads to mountain passes, tight bends, changing weather and unfamiliar road layouts. Giving yourself the space to adapt makes the experience far more enjoyable.
It also means you can concentrate on what brought you there in the first place: the pleasure of riding your motorcycle through incredible landscapes.
Enjoy the Roads, Not the Pressure
We put a lot of thought into our routes so that the riding itself is part of the experience, rather than simply a way of reaching the next hotel.
That means there is no reason to rush through the best bits.
On our tours, we want riders to have the confidence to enjoy the road at a pace that suits them. The aim is to finish each day with stories to share over dinner, not feeling exhausted because you have spent hours trying to match somebody else’s riding style.
There will always be another bend, another mountain pass and another stretch of open road ahead.
Touring Is About the Whole Experience
A great European motorcycle tour isn’t measured by average speed or how many miles you can cover in a day.
It’s the combination of the roads, scenery, stops, food, people and those unexpected moments that you remember long after you arrive home.
Sometimes that means slowing down.
It might mean taking an extra few seconds to enjoy a view, settling into a series of bends rather than attacking them, or simply recognising that today you want an easier ride than yesterday.
That freedom is an important part of motorcycle touring.
Our Approach to Motorcycle Touring in 2026
Everything we learned from riding with our guests in 2025 continues to shape our 2026 motorcycle tours.
We plan the routes and take care of the practical details, but we never forget that every person joining us is an individual rider.
You don’t need to prove anything.
Ride smoothly. Ride comfortably. Take in the scenery. Enjoy the stops. And finish the day looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow.
Because ultimately, the best riding pace is the one that allows you to enjoy the journey.
Your bike. Your pace. Your tour.
