This 16-day self-guided journey spans four countries, combining flowing French roads, the iconic riding of Germany’s Black Forest, the high Alpine drama of Italy and Austria, and some of Europe’s most memorable mountain passes. Starting in northern France and finishing back on familiar ground, the route is designed to feel balanced and progressive, with well-placed multi-night stays that allow you to explore properly and ride at your own pace without feeling rushed.
This guided tour is shown with a guide date. Alternative dates may be arranged on request, subject to hotel availability.
Your journey begins in Sedan, France, where you settle in before heading east toward Germany. The route carries you through the rolling countryside toward the Black Forest, arriving in Baden-Baden and Oppenau, where you ride the legendary Black Forest B500. This iconic stretch sets the tone early with flowing corners, forest scenery and classic German road design.
From Germany, the route continues south toward the Alps, carrying you into northern Italy and onward into Austria. The roads begin to rise, the views open up, and the riding becomes more technical as you approach the heart of the mountains.
You will base yourself in key locations that allow for rewarding daily loops, rather than constant packing and unpacking. The route weaves through Alpine valleys, high mountain passes, and quieter backroads, giving you a real sense of travel as cultures, languages and landscapes change beneath your wheels.
In Italy, the tour delivers dramatic scenery and technical riding, before turning north again through Austria, where the roads are fast, clean and beautifully engineered. Mountain passes, sweeping valleys and well-timed rest points combine to keep the riding engaging without becoming exhausting.
The return journey is designed to feel just as memorable as the outward leg, not simply a ride home. You continue through Austria and back toward France, following carefully chosen routes that avoid motorway monotony wherever possible. The final days ease you back through familiar terrain, finishing where the journey began, with time to reflect on the distance covered and the roads ridden.

3. Helmet Laws: A helmet is mandatory in all EU countries, and it must meet the ECE 22.05 standard. Ensure your helmet is compliant to avoid any issues.
4. High-Visibility Vest: Always carry a high-visibility vest on your bike in case of emergencies.

7. Emergency Equipment: Carry essential emergency equipment such as a first-aid kit, tool kit, and spare parts. It’s also a good idea to have a mobile phone with a local SIM card for emergencies.
8. Planning and Navigation: Plan your route and use a reliable GPS or map. Knowing the local language or having a translation app can also be helpful.
